Stringing Information

How often should I get my racquet strung?
We recommend getting your racquet strung as many times per year as you hit per week.
That is, if you hit twice a week, you should get your racquet strung every six months.

How long should a restring last?
This depends on many factors, including the type of string being used, how hard you hit the ball, the amount of spin you put on the ball etc.
If you are breaking strings too often for your liking, and that will vary between people, you have to consider changing your string to a more durable one, remembering that more durability usually means less feel/playability, or accept that you will be restringing more often than once or twice per year.

Can you replace my bumper strip?
We only stock a limited amount of bumper strips as there are so many type of racquets available.
We recommend when buying a tennis racquet also buying a replacement bumper (about $15), as these can be hard to find by the time you destroy your current one.

Why will you only string up to 65 lbs?
The time a racquet is most likely to break is when stringing it due to the large tensions involved, and the racquet being slightly unbalanced during the initial stages of stringing.
Some stores are willing to string at this tension but due to the risks involved we will not.

How much better is a more expensive string?
More expensive strings are multi-filamented or wrapped strings, usually made of a number of different materials and around the 1.30mm thickness. They give excellent feel and touch, but the trade-off is durability. The thin string combined with the wraps usually means early breakage. Remember: The touring pros, on average, have their racquets restrung after every days play whether they've used it ot not. The average player has to make trade-offs for durability and play with a less multi-filamented string which is within their budget.
